Tour of The Balkans
We’re most excited to be venturing east later this week, for a six-date tour of festivals and venues in Bulgaria and Serbia.
We kick off at the Bansko International Jazz Festival in southern Bulgaria this coming Saturday (August 10th), followed by a journey up to Sofia’s Studio 5 Jazz Club, and then across to Serbia for the Nišville International Jazz Festival, where we play four dates on various stages, including a journey down to the town of Vranje, finishing on Sunday 18th August on the closing night of the main festival stage back in Niš.
Big thanks to Dr Emil Iliev in Bansko, Anna Yankova in Sofia, and Branislav Dejanovic in Niš, for all their hard work and invitation to perform.
We’re also taking in a visit to watch FC Radnički Niš play Partisan Belgrade whilst we’re in Serbia … up the workers!
We are reliably informed by our excellent photographer friend Vladimir Donkov (check out his amazing work at verticalshot.com) that we also have to enjoy a daily drink of Rakia, whatever this may be, so please bear this in mind if you come over for a chat.
As Percy is away on longstanding travels elsewhere, we’re very lucky to be joined on tour by our friend, the brilliant bassist Chris Mapp.
Back in the UK, we’ve added dates at The Stables, Milton Keynes, and The Pheasantry at Pizza Express Jazz Club, London, in the autumn. Full info here.
We’ll have video of our Balkan voyages online in a few weeks … you can also keep up-to-date with our travels on Facebook and Twitter. See you soon!
