L A T E S T . . . And what happened to your website? ... Ah yes, another confession ... we were playing with a new design, and got rather waylaid with very boring technicalities, and a little lost in the blogosphere. As you've probably noticed, we're all back up and running, and we'll have a shiny new site online in the next few weeks, along with some very jolly photos of our spring tours around the UK (mostly involving Louis' suggestive poses in various Welcome Break Service Stations).
We're happier than an MP wielding a brand new a receipt book to be welcoming the wonderful percussionist and Cajón player Tom Chapman on board, performing with us for the first time tomorrow evening at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival (sponsored by that lovely tasteless lager Budvar, we're reliably informed) ... Already busier than that mystical entity that is the Commons' Expenses Office, Tom plays with the great folk ensemble, The Old Dance School, and also with violin maestro Joe Broughton's new project, the Urban Folk Quartet. Folk aside, his jazz project, Found Objects, features our very own Percy Pursglove and the brilliant Neil Yates on trumpet. Top Cajón maker Paolo De Gregorio also sends Tom free Cajóns, even when he breaks them, so we're sorted for spare chopping boards for the foreseeable future. (Click here to find out a little more about the Cajón, in case you still thought it looked like an upside-down speaker).
If your Valentines Day wasn't already looking bad enough, we come forth with news of our Spring Tour ... We kick off in March, with a series of gigs in Cheshire, before heading down to The Stables on Friday 13th. We hop over to Ireland in April - Dublin, Omagh and Derry - then rumble up to Helmsley in Yorkshire, finishing off with a return to the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, at the Pittville Pump Room, the Wirksworth Festival, and a venture down to Hampshire and Forest Arts in early May. Full listings across at the imaginatively-entitled Gig Guide, and you can also download the tour flyer here.
Advance tickets are priced at £10 and £8.50 for various concessions ... advanced booking recommended!
The TGC performance at this year's Cheltenham Jazz Festival in May has virtually sold out - only a few restricted-view tickets are now left at the Festival Box Office. Big thanks for your support! Meanwhile, the scheduled Commuter Jazz gig at Birmingham Symphony Hall on May 30th has now been re-arranged to Friday 18th July, as we find ourselves performing in the backstreets of Barcelona. However, you can still find us at Birmingham Town Hall in early May, and at the Tewkesbury Spring Festival towards the end of the month. See the aptly entitled Gigs page for full info on all upcoming shows.
